COMMEMORATIONS
Join the Melton RSL Sub-Branch at our next commemorative event!
The Melton RSL Sub-Branch honors ANZAC Day, Vietnam Veterans Day, and Remembrance Day each year, paying tribute to the sacrifices and service of Australian and allied forces. These commemorations reflect our enduring respect for those who have served and fallen in the line of duty.

ANZAC Day
At the Melton RSL Sub-Branch, ANZAC Day begins with a dawn service held at the Melton Cenotaph, where members of the community gather to honor the courage and sacrifices of Australian and allied forces. The ceremony includes wreath-laying, a minute of silence, and commemorative readings, creating a respectful and solemn atmosphere.
Following the dawn service, attendees move to the Melton Country Club, the official home of the Melton RSL, where members and the community come together to continue commemorations. This gathering fosters fellowship, remembrance, and a shared appreciation for those who served, helping to strengthen community ties and preserve our ANZAC legacy.
Vietnam Veterans Day
Vietnam Veterans Day, observed annually on August 18, is a day to honor the service and sacrifice of Australian soldiers who served in the Vietnam War. Originally known as Long Tan Day, it commemorates the Battle of Long Tan in 1966, where a small group of Australian soldiers faced overwhelming odds. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the courage, resilience, and challenges faced by all Vietnam veterans, acknowledging their unique contributions and sacrifices often under difficult circumstances.
At the Melton RSL Sub-Branch, Vietnam Veterans Day is marked with a respectful service, bringing together veterans, families, and community members at the Melton Cenotaph. The ceremony includes wreath-laying, moments of reflection, and words of tribute, ensuring the memory of Vietnam veterans remains honored and respected. Following the service, attendees gather at the Melton Country Club to share stories, support one another, and continue the remembrance in a welcoming environment, reinforcing the community’s commitment to recognizing and supporting those who served in Vietnam.

Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day, observed on November 11, honors the armistice that ended World War I and commemorates all service members who have fallen in conflicts since. This solemn day invites Australians to pause and reflect on the bravery and sacrifices of those who gave their lives in the line of duty, reinforcing our commitment to peace and gratitude for their service.
The Melton RSL Sub-Branch commemorates Remembrance Day with a ceremony at the Melton Cenotaph, where members and the community gather to lay wreaths, observe a minute of silence at 11:00 am, and pay tribute to the fallen. Following the service, attendees move to the Melton Country Club, where they continue the observance together, sharing reflections and honoring the memory of those who served with a sense of unity and respect.
